CENTRAL PORTUGAL
This lesser-known part of the country comprises
the picturesque Beiras and Tagus Valley tourist
regions of Portugal, each with its own stretch of
golden, sandy coastline.
Full of history and culture and with an abundance
of enchanting towns and villages, there’s plenty
of scope for small to medium-sized groups, especially
for pure and mixed incentive programmes.
Coimbra, the principle city in Central Portugal,
offers high-quality hotels and extensive facilities
for conferences, meetings and seminars. It is also
a good base from which to explore the 1,993-metre-high
Serra da Estrela mountain range and the spa resorts
of Luso and São Pedro do Sul. To the west,
the resort town of Figueira da Foz boasts several
mid-range hotels and a modern casino with meeting
space for up to 800 people theatre-style.
Besides water sports, the coastal areas of the Estoril
Coast and Costa Azul regions near Lisbon are blessed
with a wide range of options for tailor-made itineraries,
including twelve championship golf courses and many
hectares of mountainous terrain ideal for jeep safaris,
treasure hunts and other adventure-based activities.
