for visitors to Lisbon and its surrounding coastal
regions.
An abundance of long sandy beaches and secluded
bays offer perfect conditions for water sports enthusiasts,
many of which are within easy reach of the capital.
The resort areas of Cascais and Estoril abound with
possibilities for outdoor activities, including
several championship golf courses to be found both
north and south of the River Tagus.
The Sintra mountains provide excellent conditions
for horse-riding and mountain-biking, while the
sheltered waters of the Tagus estuary are perfect
for sailing.
For visitors who prefer to watch the action instead
of participate, professional football can be seen
at Lisbon’s two famous clubs, Benfica and
Sporting.
Regular first-class motor racing can also seen at
the Estoril Autodrome located 30 km west of Lisbon.
