Coach travel in Portugal is made easy by an
extensive network of privately-run companies who
operate with efficiency and competitive prices.
Operators such as Rede Expressos run regular services
all over the country, linking the main cities
of Lisbon, Oporto and Braga in the north and Faro
in the south.
Central Lisbon's main coach terminus is located
at the top of Avenida Casal Ribeiro, while many
connecting services are now handled by the recently-opened
Oriente station in the east of the city at the
former Expo 98 site.
In the north, the Oporto-Lisbon-Algarve routes
are handled by a company called Renex, with departures
leaving from a point close to Oportos most
famous landmark, the Clérigos Tower. REDM
operates the Oporto-Braga route with coaches departing
from Rua Dr. Alfredo Magalhães, located
adjacent to the Jornal de Notícias building.
From here, travellers can also reach Ponte de
Lima via Barcelos, Guimarães and Viana
do Castelo via Póvoa de Varzim.
