ERVEDAL DA BEIRA
Located a few kilometres north of Oliveira do Hospital, the small town of Ervedal da Beira gives good access to the Serra da Estrela mountain range lying due east.
What to see. Originally built in the 14th century, the town’s restored parish church features a rare collection of 15th, 16th and 17th century sculptures.
Nearby. Situated at Fiais da Beira, 3 km from Ervedal da Beira, the Cavada Dolmen dates from the Neolithic period and is one of the area’s most important sites.
To the south-west lies the Solar do Ervedal, a striking 15th century manor-house once belonging to the Viscounts of Ervedal and now operating as a high-quality hotel. The estate features an 18th century chapel and magnificent views of the 1,993-metre-high Serra da Estrela mountain.
